Workshop tutor Vicky Hallam is a botanical artist living and working in Cambridge, examples of her work can be seen on her website www.vickyhallamdesigns.com
The day will begin with creating a sketchbook page. Working from life, you’ll analyse the anatomy of a flower, studying it from all angles and even dissecting it to reveal its botanical details. The subject will be explored to scale, allowing for close observation. Using coloured pencils, you’ll learn how to colour-match accurately, blend smoothly, and build up layers. In the afternoon, the focus will shift to a detailed coloured pencil study of a flower head, applying the skills developed earlier in the day.
