Here is everything you need to know about how to get to Bury St Edmunds Guildhall. We can't wait to welcome you as you explore 700 years of local history.

The Guildhall is in the heart of historic Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. Within easy walking distance of car parks, rail and bus transport links, all areas of the Guildhall and its exciting and varied exhibits are fully accessible.


Over the next few weeks Bury St Edmunds Guildhall will be open on Sundays only, with free entry for all!
The team will still be here, preparing for the busy Christmas season, making our visitors experience better than ever and recruiting and training volunteers.
Please continue visit us on Sundays for a fantastic heritage experience from medieval through WWII and beyond, and we look forward to a jam-packed Christmas Fair and seasonal calendar. We’ll be kicking off on Friday 23rd November with a mulled wine, cider and seasonal beer event as well as the arrival of Christmas Elves for toy making with children!

In addition, special evening and weekend events will be advertised.

Currently general entry is free for all and we anticipate this will continue for the rest of 2018.
As a not for profit charity we welcome donations.

On foot

Find us on Guildhall Street a few hundred meters further on from the Cornhall Exchange and Butter Market.

Coming by Car

  • 75 miles from London: M11, A505, A14 to Junctions 42, 43 and 44
  • 25 miles From Cambridge (A14) or Ipswich
  • 43 miles from Norwich

Where to park

Up to 3 hours: The Arc car park is 5 minutes walk through the pedestrianised shopping centre. Find it on Parkway South – the main through route to the south of the town. SAT NAV postcode IP33 3BA

Travelling by rail

The train station is on Station Hill, which is a 12 minute walk from the Guildhall.

Arriving by bus

Bury St Edmunds main bus station is 10 minutes walk from the Guildhall, on St Andrew’s Street North, and connecting with local services and National Express coaches.
